LEAVING A LEGACY
In late 2018, our friend and teammate Matt Tomlinson tragically lost his life in an accident. Matt was a big figure in UK Ultimate and his loss is still keenly felt by all that knew him. Matt was always enthusiastic about promoting our sport and keen for anything that would expose more people to Ultimate and grow the community.
Matt’s family wanted to give back to the sport that he had been so passionate about and gathered donations in his memory. They asked his teammates to find ways to use this money to benefit the sport and raise its profile. The 4 Nations Ultimate tournament is one of the projects that has come from this and would not be possible without the generosity of the Tomlinson family.
EXHIBITION OF ULTIMATE
Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting spectacle of skills, tactics, athleticism and sportsmanship. Although the sport has a growing following, it is still in its infancy. We are passionate about growing the game and bringing the sport to a whole new generation of players. The UK and Ireland have a wealth of dedicated and talented athletes and it is our belief that the 4NU format is the best way to showcase our sport to a larger audience. This unique tournament will unite fans with a festival atmosphere and ignite new rivalries between sporting nations.
BUILDING A COMMUNITY
This event was conceived by a group of Scottish Ultimate players, former teammates of Matt. It is being delivered by volunteers and supported by players from across the UK and Ireland. All proceeds will be reinvested to support future iterations of the tournament and grass roots Ultimate.
We are grateful to all of our partners who have volunteered their time and resources to get this tournament off the ground
